This monologue project is a pretty small theater project, however it requires a lot of brainstorming and performance skills targeted body language, facial expressions, tone, and creativity. Through this project, I learned that body language and speaking of script share a equally important position in acting.

First, I want to discuss the context of this monologue and why I chose this particular piece of monologue. This monologue is  from Rosaline a shakespeare related theater production After Juliet, by Scottish Sharman MacDonald. The context of this monologue is after Juliet and Romeo's death, Rosaline was "talking" to the dead juliet at Juliet's funeral. I just thought the Rosaline's charter really matches my style of acting because she is mean, wicked, dreadful, and overall negative in this monologue. Rosalind was Romeo's ex-lover, so it is reasonable that she has this feeling to Rosaline. I have experience of particularly playing mean characters in theater, so this one is relatively easier to understand and express.

Second, I want to talk about my performance. The script was not too long, however, it was difficult for me to find the split of beat and tone and layers in the script. I found out after the performance that I relatively maintain a fairly calm angry and dreadful tone. I could of being of exaggerate and extreme when I was talking about the scar and the lost of romeo. However, I was pretty impressed by picturing the grave and the texture of the flowers. I wanted to show the audience from my body language and eye movement that shows the grave was actually in front of me and and I am actually talking to Juliet. Also, I intended to touch my face when I was talking about the scar on my face that was given by Juliet. This can reflect how dreadful Rosaline feel about the physical and spiritual scars caused by Juliet. Especially the playing of flower is what most of my audience really impressed based on their reflection. Also, mu blocking was great because it shows multiple layer and objects in the scene.
However, I think I can work more on memorization and adding more emotions and tone. I skipped a few lines in the performance, however, it did not affect my performance, which I was glad about.

To conclude, tone, verbal and physical language, creativity, mood, and setting of the scene are all important factors that need to be combined to create a flow of great performance. I did great on entering the emotions and picturing the scenery, I could work more on tone and layers of monologue performance.
